About Lucas Excavating
Family Roots. A Business Built on Hands-On Work.
Lucas Excavating was established in 2022, following a family tradition that began in towing and later expanded into construction. Growing up around that work inspired the next generation to build their own business.
Founder, Gasper Lucas, brought more than a decade of hands-on experience at Mound Road Crush Concrete to Lucas Excavating. Today, the company provides excavation, concrete removal and replacement, clearing, grading, and material delivery throughout Sterling Heights and Metro Detroit.

Small Crews & Home Projects Have a Place Here
Small material deliveries helped get Lucas Excavating started. Supporting contractors with materials and equipment for their jobs remains an important part of the business.
That includes two-person crews replacing driveways or pouring pads, homeowners making changes to their yards, and commercial project teams coordinating site work. Lucas works directly with customers and as a subcontractor, including for out-of-state contractors who need local support on Michigan projects.

See the Property. Understand the Whole Job.
A description over the phone can start the conversation, but seeing the property helps explain what the work will involve. Equipment access, ground conditions, and your plans for the space all matter when putting together an estimate.
Each project gets its own work plan. That might connect concrete tearout with preparation and pouring, or pool removal with backfill and lawn restoration. Discussing the whole job helps establish what’s included and what will be ready when Lucas’s part is complete.
Care for the Jobsite Is Part of the Work
Lucas Excavating is licensed and insured, with safety, quality, and timely completion guiding the approach. Excavators, skid steers, front-end loaders, and dozers support the different stages of removal and ground preparation.
Cleanup happens as work progresses, rather than becoming one final task after everything else. Keeping the site tidy shows respect for the property and the people working or living around it.
A Concrete Connection That Makes the Next Job Easier
The family became partners in Mound Road Crush Concrete in 1999 and later became full owners. Today, Mound Road operates as a sister business closely connected with Lucas Excavating’s concrete removal and material services.
For contractors, that connection offers a practical benefit: they can drop off demolished concrete and collect recycled base material in the same visit. At Mound Road, concrete is processed into products such as 21A and 1×3 aggregate, giving old material a use on another project.
